My Wife Prefers Quiet Life – Osinbajo

Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President who spoke on Sunday at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall, disclosed that his wife prefers the quiet life to the rigours of politics.Yemi who revealed that his wife prefers quiet life at a Thanksgiving Service organised by the Aso Villa Chapel to thank God for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari and Osinbajo, stated that God was truly worthy of praise and thanksgiving.
“It is impossible to thank him enough; I and my family have too many reasons to thank God. One day my wife and I reflected on how unlikely our journey here is. She reminded me that all she wanted was a quiet life as one of the many families of academics living on the University campus.
“If someone had said to me in 2013 you will be campaigning across the country;. you will win the elections and become Vice President of Nigeria I would, because I am generally polite, have said amen but in my heart, say what a crazy chap!”
Any one who knows how difficult it is to campaign for local government chairman and win, you will not find it difficult to accept that except the Lord build the house they labour in vain who build it” he said.

JUST IN: Lawmakers Impeach Lagos Assembly Speaker Obasa

Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has been impeached by 32 members of the State House of Assembly.

This development comes amid allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement against the speaker.

According to reports, the embattled Speaker was impeached for gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Obasa has been accused of spending N17 billion on a gate to the assembly complex, which critics argue is excessive and fraudulent. There have also been allegations of mishandling constituency funds and projects.

Obasa who represents Agege State Constituency I in 2007 has been reelected four times in 2011, 2015 2019 and 2023. He was first elected Speaker in 2015.

Members of the Assembly immediately elected Mojisola Meranda representing Apapa I State Constituency as the new Speaker.

Ibadan Stampede: Court Reveals Date to Hear Oriyomi, Naomi, School Principal’s Bail Application

Oyo High Court has revealed plan to decide on bail applications filed by ex- Queen Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat and Fasasi Abdulahi on Monday, 13th January, 2025.

The court commenced the hearing of the bail applications filed by Hamzat, Naomi, and Fasasi on Tuesday amid tight security.

Counsels to the suspects had filed summon of Application for bail before the court.

Their applications were heard at Oyo state High Court, Court 8, Ringroad, Ibadan on Tuesday.

Justice K.B. Olawoyin after listening to the submission and arguments of the Counsels at the points of law adjourned the ruling on the bail application till Monday, 13th January, 2025.

The suspects are currently being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre Agodi on Holden charge.

The suspects were represented in the Court by Alhaji Waheed Olajide, Musibau Adetunmbi, (SAN) and Adekunle Soba loju, (SAN).

FG Raises Duty Tour Allowances, Others for Public Officials

The Federal Government has approved an upward review of allowances for officers in public service.

Some of the allowances under review include Duty Tour Allowance, transport allowances, uniform allowances, and overtime allowances.

The decision was reached at the 46th meeting of the National Council on Establishment, chaired by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack.

The NCE, which serves as the highest policy-making body for public service matters, is chaired by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and includes the Heads of Service from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The meeting was preceded by a two-day technical session chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office.
